Queensborough Community College

The City University of New York (CCNY)는 뉴욕시의 5개 지역에 20개의 캠퍼스를 두고 200,000명 이상의 학생들이 재학 중입니다. 150,000명의 학생들은 성인교육이나 평생교육과 같은 과정에 재학 중입니다.

CUNY의 역사는 1847년에 설립되어 The City University of New York (CCNY)로 발전된 the Free Academy에서 그 뿌리를 찾을 수 있습니다. 해를 거듭하면서 많은 public college 들이 CCNY로 통합되어 왔는데 Hunter, Brooklyn, Queens, New York City College (현재는 New York City Teachnical College), Staten island Community college(현재는 College of Staten island), Bronx Community College, Queenborough Community College 등이 그 대학들입니다. 1960년대와 70년대에 더 많은 대학들이 병합되었는데 1963년에 Borough of Manhattan Community College Kingsborough Community College, 1964년에 John Jay College of Criminal Justice, 1965년에 Rishmond College(현재는the College of Staten island), 1966년에 York College, 1968년에 Baruch College, Lehman College, Medgar Evers College, Fiorello H. LaFuardia Community College 그리고 1970년에 Hostos Community Colleges 하나의 Four-year technical College 와 doctoral-granting graduate school, law school과 ccelerated medical program and a medical school 로 그 범위가 확장되었습니다.
